(January 21, 2009) – Sypris Electronics, a subsidiary of Sypris Solutions, Inc., is pleased to announce that on January 20, 2009, BAE Systems (BAE) and CPU Technology, Inc(CPU Tech) transported a Bradley Combat System to the Sypris Electronics facility, located inTampa, FL. The display of the Bradley vehicle was to allow Sypris Electronics’ employees theopportunity to view the final product of their hard work.
The Bradley Combat System is manufactured by BAE Systems Land & Armaments. CPU Tech is a strategic partner and supplier to BAE, producing electronic control systems for this premier Army vehicle.
In 2007, Sypris Electronics was awarded a contract by CPU Tech to provide electronic circuit card assemblies for theTurret Drive Control Unit II (TDCU II) of the Bradley CombatSystem. The TDCU II contains the necessary hardware andsoftware to control the motors of the Turret Drive System (TDS).The Bradley Combat System is used to scout enemy positions and protectively transport dismounted troops into hostile territory. This armored vehicle has enough weapons to destroy enemy tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, bunkers and attack helicopters.
